"I have now read this book at least a dozen times." I read this line in a book review at Amazon.com, and I found it special. In the middle of a rather verbose description of this book, D.Wilburn writes this sentence, and I realise we can use it to suppose several things: #1: The person who wrote this has the discipline and endurance to read a book at least a dozen of times. #2: This is the book that person chose to read over and over again. #3: It must be something special with it that makes a reader want to read it again. #4: This book is probably easy to read. #5: The writer of the review wants you to read this book. It's possible to reveal a lot more from a text than what is literally written, something we call 'read between the lines'. What can you read between the lines in this text? How often do you read between the lines, and with which purpose?
